Certification Success!

During the first full day of my unemployment stint, I took stock of my new situation. Suddenly, I had an abundance of time on my hands and a long list of things I could do. Of course, I had to spend the majority of that time on the job search, but I had the gift of time to pursue other interests as well.

I committed to a few things:

  • Tackle the never-ending list of home projects. (The list is still a mile long.)

  • Take a daily walk without the guilt of missing time with family. (Now that I’m back to work, this is getting more difficult.)

  • Binge Ted Lasso. (“If the Lasso way is wrong, it’s hard to imagine being right.”)

  • Add certificates to my resume.

That last one was especially important to me. I wanted to add formal certifications to the skills I had developed in digital marketing, SEO, Google Analytics, social media and paid ads over the past few years. I kept certificates on the backburner for so long, resting on the fact I was doing the work. Then my situation provided the opening to truly evaluate the options available and prioritize the list I wanted to complete.

In digital marketing, there are several outlets offering certifications: Hubspot Academy and Semrush Academy are two of the best. Each has a wide variety of classes with current, relevant information in social media, SEO, email marketing and so much more.

When it comes to website analytics, Google Analytics (GA) is the option. Candidly, I was intimidated by this certification. GA is a massive program with so many intricate details and customizable options. It can be overwhelming to say the least. While I’ve been able to navigate GA for many years and apply learnings to digital strategy, I’ve always known there was so much more to it.

I’m proud to say I completed the Google Analytics Individual Qualification exam last weekend. I’m officially Google Analytics certified!

Next up: Google Ads certification.
